News : Membership Renewal 2021 & Insurance

Membership Renewal 2021

Update 15/7/2021 :

This is an update to the membership fee & insurance matters for the year 2021.

The committee has decided to put the insurance matters in the back burner, and will not pursue it for the time being, given that most of us will not be flying this year.

As the major expense (insurance) is no longer going to be an expense, the committee has also decided that all members who had a valid membership from the year 2020 will get an automatic waiver of membership fee for the year 2021. For those who have already paid for 2021, the fee will be offset against year 2022. Thank you for your cooperation.

If you have an objection to the above arrangement, please feel free to highlight on the PGSG groupchat or reply to any of the committee members or via email at paragliding.sg@gmail.com

.

Original Post (20 April 2021) : PGSG will be providing a one time fee reduction for the year 2021 for members who currently hold membership as at 31-Dec-2020.

News : Ground Handling restrictions in Singapore

It has come to our attention that some pilots are ground handling (GH) at Bedok Reservoir, we would like to reiterate that we are not allowed to do any aerial activities (including paragliding) within 5km of any airport. As Bedok reservoir is within 5km of Paya Lebar airbase, GH is not allowed there.

This article is to remind all that the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) has viewed GH as an aerial activity (regardless of whether or not we actually fly). We direct readers to the CAAS restriction map of aerial activities near to airports, Bedok reservoir in particular.

Aerial activities are allowed up to 200feet (60m) beyond 5km of any airport, which means GH is not regulated outside of the 5km zone. Example will the area around marina bay in southern Singapore.
