News : Ground Handling restrictions in Singapore

It has come to our attention that some pilots are ground handling (GH) at Bedok Reservoir, we would like to reiterate that we are not allowed to do any aerial activities (including paragliding) within 5km of any airport.

It has come to our attention that some pilots are ground handling (GH) at Bedok Reservoir, we would like to reiterate that we are not allowed to do any aerial activities (including paragliding) within 5km of any airport. As Bedok reservoir is within 5km of Paya Lebar airbase, GH is not allowed there.

This article is to remind all that the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) has viewed GH as an aerial activity (regardless of whether or not we actually fly). We direct readers to the CAAS restriction map of aerial activities near to airports, Bedok reservoir in particular.

Aerial activities are allowed up to 200feet (60m) beyond 5km of any airport, which means GH is not regulated outside of the 5km zone. Example will the area around marina bay in southern Singapore.
